Saving Hope premiere date

Filed Under (Articles, Videos) by Janine at 7:33 pm

NBC is readying for summer with some fresh fare.

The network has announced launch dates for the debut of Saving Hope, starring Erica Durance and Michael Shanks, and the returns of Love in the Wild and American Ninja Warrior.

The Canadian co-production Saving Hope will premiere Thursday, June 7, at 10/9c after the two-hour debut of the reality dating series Love in the Wild at 8 pm.

The new drama stars Smallville alumnae Durance as a surgeon whose comatose fiancé (played by Stargate SG-1‘s Shanks) wanders the hospital as a spirit. The cast also includes Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries) as a newly arrived hot shot doc. (source)

NBC Orders Canadian Drama ‘Saving Hope’ for Summer Schedule

Filed Under (News) by Janine at 8:44 pm

The U.S. network confirms a full-season order of 13 episodes as the Erica Durance and Michael Shanks-starring medical drama heads into production in Toronto.

OTTAWA – It’s official: NBC has ordered the Toronto hospital drama Saving Hope, starring Erica Durance and Michael Shanks, for its summer season.

NBC, which has been circling the Canadian media series since late last year for its summer schedule, confirmed the full-season order of 13 episodes, just as Saving Hope heads into production in Toronto on March 12.

The Canadian drama is now set for a summer bow on Canadian broadcaster CTV and NBC.

Saving Hope portrays a chief of surgery (Shanks) whose sudden illness leaves the medical facility in chaos, and his doctor wife (Durance) in shock.

Thirteen episodes of the show’s first season were earlier ordered by CTV, which has a track record developing Canadian dramas on U.S. networks such as Flashpoint, The Listener and now Saving Hope.

Canadian producer Entertainment One will deficit finance Saving Hope, as well as handle the international distribution in all media, including all television, DVD/Blu-ray, VOD and digital.

Saving Hope is produced by Ilana C Frank Films, with Entertainment One, in association with CTV and NBC.

The series is executive produced by Ilana Frank, David Wellington, John Morayniss and Lesley Harrison. (source)

NBC Interested In Canadian Series Saving Hope Starring Erica Durance

Filed Under (News) by Janine at 8:21 pm

NBC just can’t get enough Erica Durance. And who could blame them? Earlier this week we reported that the former Lois Lane would be appearing in next Wednesday’s episode of David E. Kelley’s Harry’s Law (in a cheekyWonder Woman related guest role) and now the peacock network is looking to acquire her Canadian series Saving Hope.

The medical-drama with a supernatural bent already has a 13 episode order from Canadian broadcaster CTV but now, according to Deadline, NBC is looking to acquire it for a summer run. Durance plays a surgeon named Alex Reid who works in the same fictional Toronto hospital where her husband lies in a coma. This husband is Dr. Harris (played by Michael Shanks, another Smallville regular) who happened to be the chief of surgery before the coma, but don’t worry, his spirit still roams the hallways of the hospital, checking in on his attractive wife and a hot-shot new surgeon (Daniel Gillies). The series also features Scre4m’s Erik Knudsen and Kristopher Turner in supporting roles.

Saving Hope was co-created by Malcolm MacRury and Morwyn Brebner who also do most of the writing for series. The show is another Canadian series that crossed the border from executive producer Ilana Frank – the person responsible for ABC’s Rookie Blue. First Flashpoint, then Rookie Blue and just today The CW announced interest in acquiring The L.A. Complex (which also features Kristopher Turner, not a bad day for him) for a summer run. And now Erica Durance and Saving Grace at NBC. “O Canada” indeed.

So, if all goes well, look for Saving Hope to debut on NBC this summer. Erica Durance guest stars in the Harry’s Law episode on Wednesday, January 11 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. (source)

CTV Orders New One-Hour Original Drama Series SAVING HOPE

Filed Under (News) by Janine at 10:33 pm

CTV announced today that it has ordered to series SAVING HOPE, a new, one-hour original drama starring Erica Durance (SMALLVILLE) and Michael Shanks (STARGATE ATLANTIS) from the acclaimed Gemini award-winning producers Ilana Frank and David Wellington (THE ELEVENTH HOUR, Of Murder and Memory, ROOKIE BLUE). CTV has ordered 12 one-hour episodes in addition to the pilot shot this summer.

In SAVING HOPE, when charismatic Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris (Shanks) at Toronto’s Hope-Zion Hospital ends up in a coma, he leaves the hospital in chaos – and his fiancée and fellow surgeon, Alex Reid (Durance), in a state of shock. Along with newly-arrived star surgeon, Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), Alex races to save Harris’ life. As the action unfolds, comatose Dr. Harris wanders the halls of Hope-Zee in “spirit” form, not sure if he’s a ghost or a figment of his own imagination. Reid, along with her fellow doctors, press on to save his life and those of their other patients, as they deal with the complicated and courageous decisions that are made in their daily struggle to keep hope alive.

“Tapping into the frenetic lives of medical professionals entrusted to make life and death decisions every single day, SAVING HOPE is a sexy, heart-pumping hospital drama with captivating storylines,” said Phil King, President, CTV Programming and Sports. “We look forward to working with the talented actors and creative team behind this compelling new series.” (source)

Finally got around to sorting screencaps of Erica’s guest appearance on Charlie’s Angels. Too bad that the show was already canceled. Would have loved to possibly see Erica guest-star again.
